AddPort Usage
Enables the client to initiate the process for "porting in" a subscriber number from another service provider.
With the AddPort API, the partner can request that the customer's current subscriber number serviced by a different provider be acquired from the old service provider and reserved for use in activating a new subscriber on the specified Cingular Wireless account.
Use Cases
These are some examples of when a customer would want to use the AddPort API to port in a number from another provider:
Mobile Number Switching
A mobile app can use this API to facilitate the process of switching mobile service providers for users. Users can enter their current subscriber number and the desired new service provider, and the app will handle the porting process using the AddPort interaction.
Bulk Porting
A business that wants to switch its entire workforce to a new service provider can use the AddPort API to automate the porting process for all its employees. The company can input a list of subscriber numbers to be ported and track the progress of each request.
